Quiroga returns to Truck Series with KBM

COMPÁRTELO
Germán Quiroga, the 2011 and three-timeNASCAR Mexico Series champion, wheeled a truck for Kyle Busch Motorsports in two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races last season.

Once again, the driver is climbing back into a Truck Series entry for KBM, specifically the No. 51 Toyota.

Quiroga will be behind the wheel of the No. 51 on Saturday when the Camping World Truck Series takes the green flag for the Fred's 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. It'll be the first of four starts for Quiroga in a Kyle Busch Motorsports truck in 2012.

"I've given my entire life to this opportunity and I have to thank (sponsor) NET10 Wireless and KBM for their trust in me," Quiroga said. "We need to be a great team together and if we can have a successful four races, I'm hopeful that will lead to securing a full season for 2013"

Quiroga's two races in the Truck Series last year for KBM are his only career-attempts at series competition, to date. His best finish in those two races was a 16th-place showing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. He also competed in last year's season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"My first goal is to finish," Quiroga said. "If you want to win, first you have to finish the race. We were able to finish the two races last year -- and we did fairly well -- but I expected a little bit more. I am definitely looking to try and finish in the top 10 at Talladega and if I can take care of my truck until the end of the race, maybe a win can come to us"

Quiroga has one other NASCAR national-level race under his belt. He competed in the Nationwide Series race in Mexico City in 2007.

The Fred's 250 will be Quiroga's debut at Talladega. And not only will it be his first truck race of 2012, it'll also be the season debut of KBM's No. 51 truck. The No. 51, Kyle Busch Motorsports' second team, raced part-time in 2011. Josh Richard drove the No. 51 to a 13th-place finish at Talladega a year ago. In nine races last year, the No. 51 team posted 4 top-20 finishes with three different drivers, including Quiroga.
