Iowa post race report

COMPÁRTELO

The American Ethanol 200 presented by Enogen at Iowa Speedway was a red letter night for Red Horse Racing. The team kicked off the evening by winning the Keystone Light pole with Germán Quiroga setting a new track record (22.724 seconds, 138.62 mph) during qualifying. Timothy Peters went on to win back-to-back victories at the 0.875-mile track, becoming the only repeat driver to win at Iowa Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

This track favors a crew that can set the truck up in the most optimum fashion and a driver that can take care of the tires during long green-flag runs. This is an area that Red Horse Racing excels in with really fast pit stops enabling the Tundras to gain track position.

Germán Quiroga continues to demonstrate his excellence behind the wheel of his No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra. The three-time Mexico series champion became the first Mexican driver to win a pole in any of NASCAR's three National divisions. And, he did it in fashion by setting a new track record. The Rookie of the Year contender led the field to the green and showed the way for the first 56 laps of the American Ethanol 200.

Quiroga made contact with another competitor on lap 61 and sustained damage to the right side quarter panel forcing his Tundra to lose positions. Though his OtterBox Tundra was very loose, Quiroga showcased his considerable driving skills by running good enough times to stay on the lead lap for what seemed like forever as the team waited on a caution to do the repairs. After the repairs, the truck was better, but Quiroga now had to fight for every position. Quiroga collected a 14th-place finish solidifying his 16th-place in the driver point standings.

Germán Quiroga talks about his race at Iowa Speedway:

"We had an excellent OtterBox Toyota Tundra. We started on the pole, which we didn't expect, but we were fast. We made some contact on the track which damaged our truck. We were trying hard to make it better, but the truck wasn't handling as good as the beginning because of the damage aero-wise. Still, we were digging and the last couple of laps we got really loose and lost a lot of spots. I'm frustrated but happy at the same time because we have the speed and we're getting better"
