Germán Quiroga rallies back at Kansas

The 13th running of the SFP 250 at Kansas Speedway will probably go down as one of the wildest NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races yet, with Saturday’s race having the 13th different winner in 13 races. A new record for cautions (11) and even a red flag that lasted almost 13 minutes with only 47 laps remaining were also on tap for the day. The newly repaved surface allowed a lot of high speed driving but three wide racing was the exception rather than the rule. The 167-lap event was all about handling the air around the Toyota Tundra’s with high speeds coming from the progressive banking and new surface of this 1.5-mile track. The race proved to be a war of attrition with only 18 of the original 36 Trucks finishing the race.

Germán Quiroga and his No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra was the Red Horse Racing top qualifier starting in 12th position. Quiroga had a very fast Tundra and found himself racing in the top-five during the first half of the race. It was lap 91 when Quiroga got collected with another competitor in turn two making contact with the wall.

The No. 77 team showed their resilience as they fell a lap down on pit road repairing the damages to the NET10 Wireless truck and wound up fighting for a top-10 finish at races end. The team earned their lap back and finished 11th, which is the second highest finish of Quiroga's Truck Series career. This also marked Quiroga's best finish of the season, gaining four positions in the driver point standings - now ranked 18th.

"I feel very bad. We had a very good truck. For sure it was a top-five truck -- at least -- and we were fighting for position and unfortunately I was pinched down and got loose and touched the wall. My guys did a very good job repairing the damage on pit road. We came back from being a lap down to fighting for a top-10. We ended up 11th with this Toyota Tundra NET10 Wireless truck, but I wish this could a better result for us"

Next on the Schedule: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will return to action under the lights Friday, Mary 17th at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the North Carolina Education Lottery. Broadcast will begin at 8:00 PM ET on SPEED.
