Quiroga falls victim to broken rear axle at Martinsville Speedway

COMPÁRTELO
It was a great day for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to return to racing at Martinsville Speedway for the running of the Kroger 250. As one of the oldest tracks, the 0.526-mile track has a reputation for a much needed blend of skill, consistency, and patience. This, for most drivers is difficult to maintain. When you couple those traits with a new tire compound from Goodyear, another factor is added to an already difficult equation. Therefore a successful 250-lap race would depend on tire conservation and who had the tires ready for 'go time' at race's end.

Germán Quiroga unloaded on Friday morning with a fast NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra. In his debut at the paperclip, Quiroga started fifth and ran in the top-five for the beginning of the race, never falling out of the top-10. It was Lap 71 when Quiroga reported something had broken in his Tundra.

Bringing his No. 77 NET10 Wireless machine down pit road the team assessed the issue and diagnosed a broken rear axle. Quiroga's team rallied on pit road, replacing the axle and quickly returned to the track but had already lost several laps as green flag racing had resumed. The NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra finished the Kroger 250 in the 29th position, nine laps down.

"I feel bad for my entire NET10 Wireless team today. We had a really great Toyota Tundra and I was excited to see what we would be able to do here at Martinsville. We will turn the page and focus on next weekend's race at Rockingham"
