The Smith's 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was race number 17 for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. Ironically, it was lucky number 17 for Timothy Peters and his No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra team as they took home the checkered flag after 146 laps of door-to-door racing.
Not only a milestone win for the Red Horse Racing organization as they collected their first 1.5-mile victory, but also a first 1.5-mile victory for Timothy Peters as well. The win in Las Vegas completed the process that was begun in Mooresville where a great group of fabrication experts built the winning truck.
Germán Quiroga was anxious to put on a great show in his No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With multiple strong runs on the intermediate program this season, Quiroga was sure to find his way to the front.
Quiroga qualified for the Smith's 350 in the 19th-place and battled with a snug Toyota Tundra for the majority of the race. Quiroga took a hold of the handling and was battling for a spot inside the top-10 with 30 laps to go. Fuel strategy played a major factor in the 146-lap race. With three laps to go on the final restart, Quiroga's Tundra sputtered for fuel relegating the team to a 21st-place finish.
Germán Quiroga talks about his finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:
"Another rough night for our OtterBox Toyota Tundra. We are strong, and we are fast. We just need to have the finishes to prove it"
