This Week's NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra at Michigan International Speedway... Germán Quiroga will be piloting chassis No. 007 in the Careers for Veterans 200 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, August 16. He most recently drove this Toyota Tundra to a fifth-place finish at Iowa Speedway in July.
Quiroga at Michigan International Speedway... Germán Quiroga has one previous start at Michigan International Speedway (August 2013) where he started from the 16th position and finished 19th.
Quiroga Visits The Lone Star State... Quiroga traveled to San Antonio, Texas last week where he took part in the National Association of Hispanic Journalist's annual convention as a brand ambassador for Toyota. While there he visited with Univision - San Antonio and Telemundo - San Antonio, and gave Hispanic journalists a ride in the 2015 Toyota Tacoma at the test track at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas facilities.
Race Rewind: Pocono Raceway... The No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra team arrived at Pocono Raceway anxious to improve upon Quiroga's second-place result from the last visit to the Long Pond, Pennsylvania race track. The team struggled in practice and earned a 24th-place starting position. The team made several adjustments during scheduled pit stops and Quiroga was able to make his way through the pack and break into the top 15; however, contact with a competitor relegated him to a 22nd-place finish.
Mid-Season Review... Quiroga ranks sixth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship point standings after reaching the halfway point in the 2014 season. In 11 races he's earned two top-five and seven top-10 finishes, coming home with a career-best second-place finish at Gateway Motorsports Park in June. This is the first time in NASCAR history that a Mexican-born driver has been in the top 10 in points in any of the top three series.
GERMÁN QUIROGA QUOTES:
On reaching the halfway point in the 2014 season...
"I'm really proud of what my team has accomplished so far this season, but we're working really hard to capture that first win. Our goal is to keep earning as many points as we can each race weekend and hopefully we'll be fighting for that championship at the end"
On heading to Michigan International Speedway...
"Last year was my first time competing at Michigan (International Speedway) and we had a good race even though our results didn't show it. I think we'll have a competitive NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra there this weekend and hopefully we can improve on our results from 2013"
